Yes. The club pays an annual fee to the squash club so that it’s members can have access to the changing rooms including lockers and showers.
Most runs are between 5 and 8 miles and there will be groups going at various paces. To be in a position to join one of these groups you should already be able to run 5 miles in a time of about an hour.
We run a 12 week Beginners Group course once a year, normally in April. You can find further information on the website here.
For the remainder of the year, if you are completely new to running, we would recommend you follow a plan, such as the couch to 5k plan and after that, maybe progress to a 10k plan. Once you are in a position to compete 5 miles in around an hour, feel free to join us for a few runs to see if you like it before deciding whether to become a member.

Which entitles you to race discounts(minimum £2) on UKA licenced road and multi-terrain events.
We organise social runs, usually in the form of Pub Runs. These are usually around 7 miles, going from the squash club to a local pub.
They are pleasant steady runs, mainly off road, on footpaths across the fields, with the added bonus of a pint and good food when we get there! A buffet is paid for by the club and is usually excellent grub. We keep a steady pace and no-one gets left behind.
There will usually be 2 club trips each year. These are generally to a race event that is listed as part of the Club Championship that year. The club will pay for a coach transporting members from Garforth to the race. Following the race, more often than not, the coach will drop us for a few hours in a nearby village so we can sample the local public houses, before returning us to the Squash club in Garforth. You do not need to be taking part in the race to come on these trips, you can just join in for a day out supporting club mates (and sampling the public houses).
The Championship is a handicapped set of races.
At the start of the year, the captains and vice captains predict a time based on past performances and current form for everyone and from that a percentage handicap is calculated. This gives everyone a fair chance and levels out the playing field, so to speak.
The most important part of the club championship is to have fun, encourage one another and support other clubs races. At the end of the year, after the AGM the championship results are announced and the Bling is awarded! it might just be you who has won!
You can find a little more information via the dedicated Club Championship page here.
There will normally be a Spring and an Autumn club handicap race.
This consists of around a 5 mile run and runners are set off at intervals with the fastest runners setting off last. This levels the playing field and it becomes a straight forward “first to cross the finish line” race.
Following the race, it ‘s off to a local pub where food will be laid on by the club.
Club members currently receive 10% discount from Up and Running in Leeds.
