Club Championship

At the start of the year, the newly elected captains select a series of races of varying distances and terrains. The championship is open to all 1st and 2nd claim Kippax members.

The championship comprises of 3 leagues:

  • Male Championship League
  • Female Championship League
  • Handicap League

Male and Female Championship Leagues

All members participating in a race will receive points based on their finishing position against other competing members.

For example, 1st male or female Harrier to cross the line will receive 20 points, 2nd place 19 points, 3rd place 18 points and so on.

Handicap League

The Handicap League is comprised of both male and female members. A members’ average 10K time is calculated at the start of the year based on their previous years’ performance.

The same principle applies as the main championship leagues, however whoever has the best “improved finishing time” for that particular race – when calculated against their handicap time – will finish in 1st position and awarded a maximum of 25 points (2nd place 24 points, 3rd place 23 points, and so on).

Eligibility

To be awarded points, it is essential that members must enter a championship race as a Kippax Harrier (although special dispensation will be allowed for newer members who may have entered the race prior to joining).

You must also run in the club colours (red club vest or t-shirt) and be registered with England Athletics.  The high-visibility winter training top is not classed as club colours.

6 races must be completed to qualify, with your best 8 races counting towards your final points total and position in all leagues.

The prize giving is usually held in January of the new season.

Good luck and happy racing!
